ABOUT ME

Jamie J. Buchanan is based in Perth, Western Australia. He spent many years playing in rock bands, mostly loud, fast, heavy metal and hard rock bands - the sort your parents warned you about. Jamie is currently playing guitar and making vocal noises in Perth-based punk band "Incomplete" - gigging around WA and looking to record again soon.

Writing and literature has been just a big a part of jamie's life ever since he picked up his first "Cross-over" bookm - that first "adult" book that you read as a teenager that takes you from reading kids books into the world of adult fiction. That book was "The Crysalids" by John Wyndham - which was quickly followed by "Brave New World" and "1984" - in the Late 1980's, such tales of an oppressive dystopian future weren't so far-fetched

Jamie's literary tastes have changed (like musical, culinary and fashion) over the years.
  • He started with espionage novels of the 70's and 80's from the likes of Craig Thomas and Robert Ludlum.
  • This moved on to the horror and fantasy books by Stephen King, Clive Barker and Dean Koontz.
  • A rediscovering of some classic novels of the past by the likes of John Steinbeck, Lewis Carroll, Earnest Hemingway and George Orwell
  • Then branching out into Detective Noir and Conspiracy Therories by Elmore Leonard, James Ellroy and Jim Garrison
  • And, most recently, a new wave of writers such as Chuck Palahniuk, George Saunders and Bret Eastn Ellis

Jamie enjoys the films of Robert Rodriguez, The Coen Brothers and Guy Richie, music by Bad Religion, The Offspring, Clutch, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Metallica.

His only hates are people who talk about themselves in the third person...and Brussel Sprouts. He hates Brussel Sprouts.
